Renewal funding for Georgia Computes!

by Mark Guzdial last modified 2009-09-21 15:13

NSF has just renewed funding for "Georgia Computes!"

The National Science Foundation Broadening Participation in Computing has just funded our request to renew "Georgia Computes!" for another two years.

Some of our plans for the next two years include:

  • Extending support to Girl Scouts and high school teachers across the state. We will be collaborating with Wayne Summers at Columbus State University and Ashraf Saad at Armstrong Atlantic to offer Girl Scout and high school teacher workshops at their campuses.
  • We will also be working to provide more teacher professional development on-line.
  • We will also be pushing more support for pre-undergraduate level, with a greater focus on high school mentors and involving disabled students as mentors.
  • A big push on enhancing our evaluation efforts in order to better understand the state of computing education in Georgia and where our efforts are having an impact.
We're grateful to the NSF staff and reviewers for their confidence in us, and to all those who provided us with letters of support.  Many thanks!
